In 2005, this Partnership led the town to victory in the Enterprising Britain competition. Shrewsbury
became the first ever West Midlands Capital of Enterprise and runner up in the national final
against intense competition from industrial heavyweights including Belfast, Leeds, Exeter,
London and Coventry.
This enterprise triumph was centred around the entrepreneurial strength of the local business
operators and Shropshire Enterprise Partnership are now forming a business leaders forum
made up of successful Enterprise Champions to help secure the county’s commercial future by Encouraging and inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Numbers will be limited and membership will bring places at private
dinners with national speakers as well as close involvement with this
new project to inspire Shropshire’s ‘wannabe’ entrepreneurs. The funding
raised through core investment into this scheme will be used to launch
the project entitled ‘Business Rocks in Shropshire’.
